Katie joined the CPR Survey in 2025. She is currently undergoing training to support the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey team in taxonomic identification of net-caught and CPR samples.
She holds an MSci Biological Sciences degree from the University of Exeter, where she discovered her passion for marine conservation. Her undergraduate dissertation focussed on the sequestration of blue carbon in marine sediment – a process largely enabled by plankton - sparking her appreciation for the intricacies of the marine environment.
Outside of the MBA, Katie works with the Seal Research Trust as a photo ID volunteer, analysing images of seal haul outs to determine the age, sex and identity of individuals present.
