Issy Emery, BSc

  • Plankton Analyst

Issy joined the CPR Survey in 2025. She is currently undergoing training to support the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey team in taxonomic identification of net-caught and CPR samples.

She holds a BSc in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth, where she found her passion to study marine invertebrates, especially zooplankton.

Through various marine conservation-based placements such as at St Abb’s marine station in Scotland, she honed her interests, a love of contributing to marine research and studying all things small. This includes understanding the effects of climate change and anthropogenic stressors upon marine communities, with a particular focus on planktonic crustacea.

Outside of work she is an avid sea swimmer, SCUBA diver, cyclist, climber and hiker. Passionate about ocean health and the benefits of immersing others in nature, helping them to experience the tranquility it can offer.
