Barney joined the CPR Survey in 2025. He is undergoing taxonomic training in both phytoplankton and zooplankton to support the team with identification of net-caught and Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Samples. He holds a BSc in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth, where he studied how multi-stressor interactions influence the effects of Alexandrium exposure in marine invertebrates. Outside of the MBA, he volunteers for the Rock Pool Project as a guide, promoting a healthy relationship between local people and the ocean.
